“Urban Adventure Overland” Porsche Cayenne
Overlanding is best known as a self-reliant travel adventure, heading into remote areas, full of the unknown, where the journey is the goal. It’s exploration and living at its finest. Life is made of moments, and creating moments is top of mind when we think of overlanding.
The Mobil 1™️ Eurowise “Urban Adventure Overland” Porsche Cayenne was designed by Andy Williamson (@TheRealAndyW) of Theory Communication and Design, and built by Mike Ngo of Eurowise Performance & Offroad in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The rig with which we started this build is a new-body Porsche Cayenne 9Y0 chassis that covers the years 2019 to 2023. The Mobil 1 Eurowise Cayenne is a 3.0-liter, V-6 single turbo that puts out 340 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. But that is before Eurowise got their hands on it.
With overlanding becoming more and more prevalent and enticing as this subsect of the automotive market continues to be discovered, there are an ever-increasing number of vehicle options with which to begin a build.
“We chose the Porsche Cayenne because, well, why not?” Andy Williamson said.
“Porsche is legendary for their road cars,” Williamson continued. “The 911 is not only iconic, but was my favorite car as a kid growing up. I can honestly say that my life changed when I purchased my 911 Turbo many years ago. I have never experienced a car like that in my life. So the thought of building an adventure vehicle that can take on all that life throws at it, using a Porsche as a starting point, meant I was all smiles.”
A quick search revals a large community in the overlanding space centered around the Porsche Cayenne platform.
“The unique thing about this Porsche Cayenne project is the fact that it is a new-body 9Y0 chassis,” Williamson said. “As far as we can tell, this may be one of the first 9Y0 chassis customized for an overlanding adventure. When I met with Mike Ngo from Eurowise Performance, we talked about how much fun it would be to try and build one of the first 9Y0 chassis out there.”
An all-new chassis and vehicle comes with a lot of unknowns. There are basically no parts available for this chassis as of yet. Yet that didn’t phase Mike and the team at Eurowise. They have quickly become the leader in European overlanding vehicles when it comes to knowledge, parts and building these adventure rigs. If you see a Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen or Mercedes overlanding vehicle in the wild, more likely than not, it has parts and equipment on it from Eurowise. That’s how far ahead of the trend they were when they started to develop parts and accessories for these vehicles.
Our goal is to help others get out there and drive. To create memories and do it while having fun. That’s why we took the time to break down this new Mobil 1 Eurowise build highlighting everything we have done to it to date. We will also continue to showcase build updates here, allowing viewers to obtain the inside knowledge of what we have done and why.
